How to Be Part of Climate Week NYC (even if you aren’t in NYC)

Climate Week NYC is just a few short weeks away, and now is the time to start preparing for your participation in this annual event. Running from September 19-25, Climate Week NYC brings together key climate leaders to accelerate climate action, and it is the largest global climate event of its kind.

The team at AquaGrove is committed to creating technology and programming that help propel communities, educators, and students of all ages to a more sustainable and earth-conscious lifestyle. With the actions that AquaGrove takes in its own business model and products, remaining informed on the latest developments related to climate change and action is an important priority, and it is equally as important to share that information and resources with growers, learners, and supporters.

For this reason, we have compiled a list of ways that you can take part in the upcoming Climate Week in NYC; don’t worry – even though many events are in-person, you don’t have to live in NYC to get in on the action. In addition to accessing the latest information about climate change, participants can attend some programs virtually to gain insight on leading climate solutions and discussions that address how we can do more, fast.

Currently, there are a variety of programs that are open for registration and are free of charge to the public. And while you can get more detailed information of current and future programming from the event website, here are few sessions (before and during the event) that are on AquaGrove’s radar as they relate to our own areas of focus (sustainability, education, water conservation, food security):

  1. Building a Brighter Future: How Solar is Empowering Schools and Cities Across the Nation – Thursday, September 15, 2022 (virtual)
  2. Global Goals Week - Friday, September 16, 2022 (hybrid) – Event is around the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  3. International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD) – Tuesday, September 20, 2022 (virtual)
  4. Zero-waste and plastic-free refill shops: A throwback to the past to save our future – Monday, September 19, 2022 (virtual)
  5. From Farm to Table: Reducing Methane in the Food System - Tuesday, September 20, 2022 (virtual)
  6. Growing Food in a Climate Impacted World – Wednesday, September 21, 2022 (hybrid)

In addition to online and in-person events, Climate Week NYC offers a myriad of news highlights that many educators may find useful for teaching the next generation of climate leaders, as well as helpful resources with topics ranging from nature and sustainable living to food and industry.

No matter how you choose to participate, whether it is for one session, several sessions or simply utilizing news resources, don’t forget to spread the word. Share your participation in the event through messages, images, tips, and information regarding climate change on your own social media profiles, and remember to use the hashtag #ClimateWeekNYC
